Housing association gets helping hand from local solicitors

Share

A Cumbria-based housing association that works to support people with learning difficulties, has received a boost after a fundraising effort by Harrison Drury.

Staff at our Kendal office, based in Bridge Mills, raised £400 after joining the company’s charity fund. The fund sees members donate a fixed monthly amount, which Harrison Drury matches.

The news follows a separate fundraising initiative last year where one of Harrison Drury’s directors, Naomi Fell, raised £3,600 for the charity by taking on the annual Great North Swim at Lake Windermere.

Naomi, said: “We have been running the charity fund for a number of years and it always proves popular with our staff, it’s a great way for us to give back to the local community. As a trustee of Fairoak I see first-hand the fantastic work they do, and I know that the donation will work towards changing people’s lives.”

The Housing Association provides safe, accessible and supported accommodation for people with learning disabilities, enabling them to lead independent and fulfilling lives.

The charity is dependent on the generous support of people and businesses in the local area. The donation from Harrison Drury will help Fairoak with their befriending service and their ongoing recruitment drive for new volunteers.

The charity fund at Harrison Drury has also raised money for Wolfwood in Lancaster, St Catherine’s and Cash4Kids in Preston, Age UK in Clitheroe and Garstang Sports and Social Club.
