Asima Rana recognised in global list of leading intellectual property professionals
Asima Rana, partner and leader of our intellectual property practice, has been named in a global list of her field’s most influential people.
She has been named amongst WIPR’s Influential Women in IP: a global listing that highlights women whose expertise, leadership and influence are shaping the IP landscape.
Presented by World Intellectual Property Review, the listing celebrates the private practice and corporate legal leaders behind some of the most high-profile litigation wins and deals worldwide.
Selected through a rigorous assessment process, the WIPR’s team recognised Asima’s extensive experience across a broad range of contentious and non-contentious IP matters, including trademark disputes, advertising claims, brand enforcement strategies and regulatory issues.
Asima specialises in high-profile litigation and brand protection issues and joined us earlier this year.
In one of her most notable previous cases, Asima led the legal team representing Dairy UK in its successful Supreme Court case against Oatly, which confirmed that the trademark ‘Post Milk Generation’ could not be used on oat-based food and drink products because ‘milk’ is a protected designation under EU law.
Commenting on the recognition, Asima said: “I’m delighted to be recognised by WIPR and to be included alongside such talented women from across the global IP community. It’s a real privilege to do work that I genuinely enjoy, helping clients protect their brands, ideas and innovations through what can often be complex legal challenges.
“I look forward to continuing to strengthen our IP practice and helping our clients safeguard the ideas, brands and technologies that matter most to them.”
The WIPR Influential Women in IP annual listing spotlights women from private practice, in-house, academia and public institutions who are driving innovation, influencing policy, protecting intellectual property rights and making a lasting impact on the profession.
