Leisure Sector Update: FIFA World Cup 2026 Licensing Hours

The Government have announced a relaxation on licensing hours for pubs and other licensed venues during the FIFA World Cup 2026, this relaxation will allow licensed venues to stay open late without applying for a Temporary Event Notice (TEN) for home nation games:

  • Until 01:00 (BST) for any quarter final, semi-final or the final if the match starts at or before 09:00 (BST).
  • Until 02:00 (BST) for any quarter final if the match starts at 22:00 (BST).

Please note that matches beginning after 22:00 (BST) will be out of scope for this policy.
