Skydive raises cash in popular lawyer’s memory

Share

A Ribble Valley woman has raised over £1,000 for a Lancashire hospice after jumping from a plane in memory of a former colleague.

Fiona Tyldesley, who lives in Billington, jumped from 11,000 feet, reaching speeds of up to 148 mph, to raise cash for St Catherine’s Hospice which had cared for her friend Dominic Hester.

Dominic, who lived in Chipping and was the owner of DLH Solicitors in Clitheroe, passed away in 2015 aged 45. He had been diagnosed with a brain tumour just 13-months earlier.

Fiona, an executive administrator for the firm, which is now part of Harrison Drury solicitors, said: “Dominic was a real character, very easy-going and with a good sense of humour. He was a great person to work for too, ambitious and forward thinking, but also humble. He was taken too soon and is sorely missed.

The staff at St Catherine’s Hospice do an amazing job and it’s a real pleasure to have been able to raise this money to support what they do. It’s thanks to Dominic’s friends, family and former clients that I’ve managed to raise this much.

DLH Solicitors merged with Lancashire and Cumbria law firm Harrison Drury in December 2014 and continue to operate from its offices in Church Street.

Simon England, a director in Harrison Drury’s Clitheroe office, said: “Dominic was well-known and well-liked in the legal community in Lancashire. He was a skilled and knowledgeable lawyer who helped many people. It shows the kind a person he was that so many people continue to support fundraising efforts in his memory.

Fiona completed her skydive with Black Knights Parachute Centre based in Cockerham near Lancaster, and the above picture shows her during the feat with parachute instructor Lee Rhodes.

Harrison Drury are proud to offer their services and legal advice in East Lancashire, so if you require a solicitor in Clitheroe, get in touch with the friendly team at the office today on 01200 538578.
