Fiona Mitchell

Professional Background:

Starting out as a paralegal, Fiona completed her Degree and LPC whilst working full time. She trained in a small firm in Blackburn. On qualification, she had varied practical experience prior to settling into Risk & Compliance. This experience included Financial Claims, Personal Injury, Litigation, Commercial, Costs and Intellectual Property. This variety has been invaluable in the development of her current role.

Provided the opportunity to explore a career in Risk & Compliance by her previous COLP was an exciting challenge which she realised she enjoyed very quickly. Working as a solicitor in Risk & Compliance is relatively niche, although this appears to be changing. Fiona’s role is extremely versatile, making her days interesting and rewarding. She has to consider the Firms compliance with SRA and other regulations as well as advise Fee Earners on their obligations.

Fiona actively demonstrates that Compliance is a tool for Fee Earners and she is there to assist rather than the traditional outlook of a Risk & Compliance Solicitor!

Personal Interests:

In her spare time, Fiona spends a lot of time in the Lake District with her husband, young daughter and dog. She enjoys visiting new places and finding nice places to eat on the weekends.

Fiona is also an avid Formula One fan and is trying to tick off visiting all the races around the world.
