What are our HR Consultancy services?
A sub-set of HR / Personnel / People management services which sit within the Corporate & Commercial Division in the Employment Team. The tasks can be undertaken independently or as part of our ongoing support options (HR Compass and General Advice) and complement the legal advice provided by the team.
Who delivers it?
Our Lead HR Consultant (Helen Russell, Chartered FCIPD and Solicitor) supported by Eva Hood (HR Assistant) and the rest of the Employment Team.
What activities does it include?
Support can take the form of coaching clients to undertake the work themselves, provision of advice or managing the processes wholesale. Examples of the services available include (but are not limited to):
Strategic / Organisational / Projects
- Organisational design (analysis / recommendations)
- Organisational restructures
- Project management of TUPEs / Redundancy projects
- Reward analysis (Grade structures / rates of pay / reward management)
- Working with managers to identify appropriate policies and procedures to support their strategic objectives (which can then be captured in their Handbooks)
Transactional
- Designing workflow processes for routine / volume transactional people management activities (Starters / Leavers / Transfers / Promotions / Development etc.)
- HR Generalist support
- Routine people management queries
- Absence / welfare discussions
- Flexible working requests
- Job analysis / Job description production
- Job evaluation
- Recruitment – design of Selection activities for candidates
- Design / administration of assessment centres
- Provision of detailed feedback
- Analysis of employee surveys and design of organisational responses / action plans

- SHL Accredited test administration
Training
- Working with managers to identify training gaps / training needs
- Line Management Training
- Tailored training for specific needs
- Coaching to enable managers to undertake unfamiliar but necessary management activities
- Provision of training about how to roll out the policies / procedures in the Handbooks, ensuring a consistent approach
On Site / Delegated authority
- Management of contentious matters (or advice to clients to enable them to manage them)
- Disciplinary investigations
- Grievance investigations
- Capability processes
- Consultations (attendance at / management of) in relation to any matters which require engagement with employees, for example redundancy programmes, change of terms, TUPE measures.
