Regulatory & ComplianceDavid is a Partner in the Harrison Drury’s Regulatory team.
David uses his significant experience and expertise in Regulatory law to help businesses ensure they have the right systems and procedures in place to ensure they are compliant with the latest legislation, as well as advising on and defending a wide range of heavyweight regulatory investigations, enforcements and prosecutions through to both the High Court and the Court of Appeal.
David makes it possible for businesses and individuals to mitigate risk, avoid prosecution and reduce financial exposure from regulatory investigation and prosecution. He also helps clients to reduce or remove the reputational damage that can be caused by such investigations.
A member of the Association of Regulatory & Disciplinary Lawyers (ARDL), David frequently advises and represents businesses, organisations and individuals in investigations and prosecutions brought by a wide range of regulatory and statutory bodies, including:
- Health and Safety Executive (HSE)
- Environment Agency
- HMRC
- Solicitors Regulation Authority
- Police and Crown Prosecution Service
- Security Industry Authority
- Football Association
- Pensions Regulator
He also deals with local authority Trading Standards, Planning and Environmental Health/Food Hygiene investigations and prosecutions on behalf of clients.
As a specialist in healthcare law, David has also represented doctors, nurses, dentists, veterinarians and other healthcare professionals in disciplinary proceedings brought by the General Medical Council (GMC), Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), General Dental Council (GDC) and the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD). He has also represented clients in Medical Practitioners’ Tribunal Service (MPTS) fitness-to-practice hearings.
David has also represented solicitors in investigations brought by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).
He also advises commercial clients on how to handle and resist complex Data Subject Access Requests and also advises on the GDPR implications arising during the course of disclosure process in commercial litigation.
He studied politics at Hull University and completed the Legal Practice Course at UCLan before joining Blackhurst Budd solicitors in 2005 where he qualified as a solicitor in 2007. He joined Harrison Drury in 2012.
