Harrison Drury boosts civil litigation expertise with key appointment

Harrison Drury has appointed a civil litigation specialist to lead and develop a new service offering within its dispute resolution team.

Rob Kellock has joined as a partner and will establish a dedicated civil litigation service that will support several of our teams, including commercial, land and property dispute resolution, and wills, trusts and probate.

Based at our Preston office and working with teams across the whole region, Rob will also use his significant experience as a magistrates’ court advocate to support our regulatory and licensing team.

Rob joins after six years working as a freelance solicitor with his own practice RK Law, specialising in civil litigation and representing SME businesses on matters including debt recovery, breach of contract and other County Court litigation in the intermediate and fast tracks.

He has practised in Preston throughout his career, working in civil litigation and criminal defence. He spent 13 years leading his own practice Kellocks Solicitors.

Sean Gibbs, partner and head of our commercial dispute resolution and avoidance team, said: “Rob is a hugely respected and experienced lawyer who knows the civil litigation landscape and the workings of the county court and magistrates’ court system like the back of his hand.

“Having someone with this level of expertise available to work closely with our teams will offer significant benefits to the firm and ultimately our clients. Rob’s knowledge will be particularly useful in helping growing SMEs looking for a cost-effective way to pursue remedies when they have suffered financial loss.”

Rob Kellock added: “My freelance practice was in its seventh year and growing to the point where it was ready to progress to the next stage. I was considering how I could continue to grow the practice while servicing clients when the opportunity arose to join an established firm, one that already has a great reputation and an appetite for growth. It quickly became apparent this was the right move for me and my clients.

“Harrison Drury has referred clients to me for 15 years and I have a number of friends who work here already, so I’m really excited at the prospect of becoming part of the team. Having lived and worked in Preston for over 30 years, it’s also a dream come true for me to work on Winckley Square and to be surrounded by colleagues who are experts in their legal fields.”

Rob is a member of the Law Society’s criminal litigation accreditation scheme and member of the Federation of Small Businesses.

In his spare time, he has been a long-term legal adviser to the Board of Porsche Club GB, an organisation where he remains a lifetime honorary member. He is also a non-executive director of Assured Living housing association which provides specialist homes for life to people with high support needs.
