Andrew Symms

Consultant Solicitor

Construction

Andrew is a consultant in the construction team and he specialises in all aspects of construction and engineering law, both in relation to project and procurement documentation as well as contentious matters. He has worked across many different jurisdictions, has worked in house and has broad commercial experience at the highest level.

Andrew has a wide range of contracting experience, particularly in relation to the legal and commercial issues surrounding the delivery of large projects on time and to cost. These projects have ranged from residential and commercial buildings to international sporting venues to roads, power stations, transmission lines, water treatment facilities and process plants. He has extensive experience in respect of all forms of procurement and procurement law. He has worked on all forms of PPP/PFI internationally and across a wide range of sectors. Much of his work in recent years has related to all types of renewables projects.

His clients include construction companies, energy companies, airports, airlines, property developers, contractors, consultants, public authorities, governments and sports organisations.

Outside of work you can find me…

Most days Andrew is walking his whippet in the Yorkshire Dales, though keeps promising himself to get back into trail running. He is a big rugby union and rugby league fan and is always planning trips away. He lives part of the time in Northern Ireland where his wife is from, walking the coast and watching live Irish music in the pub, cradling a pint of Guinness.
