Halloween (31st October) is fast-approaching and is an important date in the calendar, with some operators telling us that it is their busiest night of the year. However, the fact that it falls on a Thursday this year combined with the fact it has only really become popular in the on-trade over recent years means it is a date that is less likely to feature in non-standard timings. Operators would therefore be well advised to check the timings and non-standard timings on their licence and submit a TEN if they think they would benefit from more flexibility on the Thursday, or indeed the weekend. To cover Thursday 31st October, a standard TEN would need to be submitted no later than Wednesday 16th October and a late TEN would need to be submitted no later than Wednesday 23rd October.
Whilst it is a date that is likely to be important to fewer operators than Halloween, bonfire night (5th November) will also bring people out of their homes and will therefore undoubtedly present an opportunity to some. Bonfire night falls on a Tuesday this year so again, operators should check the timings and non-standard timings on their licence and submit a TEN if they think they would benefit from more flexibility on Tuesday 5th November, or indeed the weekend before / after when many bonfires will likely take place. To cover Tuesday 5th November, a standard TEN would need to be submitted no later than Monday 21st October and a late TEN would need to be submitted no later than Monday 28th October.
