Harrison Drury champions community spirit at the first Proud Preston Awards

Harrison Drury has shown its support to the people, businesses and groups that make Preston such an exciting city to live and work by sponsoring the first official Proud Preston Awards.

Delivered by the Lancashire Post and Preston City Council, the Proud Preston Awards brought together Preston’s community champions for a gala dinner and ceremony at Barton Manor Hotel on Thursday 19 March.

Across 13 categories – including Business in the Community, Volunteer of the Year, and Charity Hero – the awards celebrated the outstanding contributions being made across our city’s community and voluntary sectors, as well as Preston’s ‘unsung heroes’.

Jamie Campbell, partner and our Preston office lead, also presented the headline Proud Preston Award to Annie Wynn BEM for embodying the spirit, pride, and values of Preston. Annie’s work on Let’s Grow Preston, where she focuses on transforming our city’s green spaces, was noted as a true display of civic pride.

The nominees were selected based on over 100 nominations from the public, before a judging panel confirmed a shortlist and determined the final winners.

We sponsored the awards as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the communities that we operate in and backing initiatives that contribute to Preston’s growth and long-term success.

Jamie Campbell, who heads up Harrison Drury’s Preston office, said: “This city is the birthplace of Harrison Drury, it’s where the firm was founded and where many of our colleagues and clients call home, so of course we jumped at the chance to be involved in the Proud Preston awards.

“The event was a great way of celebrating all the positive things that are happening in our community, and it really captured the sense of pride we all have for Preston. We were glad to play our part alongside some other fantastic sponsors. Huge congratulations to all the nominees and winners.”

The Proud Preston Awards were attended by over 200 guests and are expected to become a key date in the city’s calendar going forward. The event raised over £1,600 for Vault Youth Zone, the charity partner for the evening.
