Harrison Drury has added to its growing insolvency and restructuring team with the appointment of solicitor Joseph Thompson.

Joseph, who joins from Bermans, will primarily be based in our Manchester office and will advise clients on a range of contentious and non-contentious corporate and personal insolvency law matters.

This will include advising companies, directors, creditors, office holders and others on matters including transactions and restructurings, contentious insolvency proceedings, such as claims for misfeasance and transactions at an undervalue, and disqualification proceedings.

Also joining our insolvency and restructuring team is Michael Watkins, who will support the team in his role as a paralegal and bolster our recovery offering.

The growth in our Manchester insolvency team follows the appointment of partner Heather Morris in January 2025. We now have a seven-strong team across the North West with plans to boost numbers further.

L to R: Peter Barlow, Kristian Torgersen, Michael Watkins, James Robbins, Heather Morris, Charles Mather and Joseph Thompson.

James Robbins, partner and head of our insolvency and restructuring team, said: “Joseph’s appointment adds further strength in depth to our growing team, significantly enhancing our ability to support our clients with the increasingly complex and high-profile cases that we’re being instructed on.”

Heather Morris, partner in our Manchester insolvency team, added: “We’re thrilled to have Joseph join our Manchester insolvency team. Our ambition to grow the team further reinforces our commitment to offering top-tier insolvency expertise in the region and beyond.”

Speaking on his appointment, Joseph added: “Harrison Drury has an excellent reputation within the industry and is also a firm that’s known for valuing and looking after its employees. I’m proud to be joining the firm and look forward to supporting our clients.”

Our insolvency and restructuring team works with clients at different stages of the process to minimise the impact of insolvency. This includes pre-insolvency, during the insolvency process, or in dealing with litigation where required.
