Gill Ashcroft

Commercial Litigation

Professional Background:

Gill joined Harrison Drury & Co Limited in June 2019, having originally completed her training contract with the firm and qualified as a solicitor in September 2018. Prior to re-joining HD, Gill worked at international firm, DAC Beachcroft LLP in Manchester, specialising in Commercial Litigation.

Gill is an intelligent, highly motivated and commercially-aware lawyer who puts her clients’ goals at the forefront of her work. Gill has strong local links having grown up in Garstang and worked previously in Preston and Lancaster.

Gill initially read English Literature at the University of Leeds before attending the University of Law in Manchester, where she completed the Graduate Diploma in Law and the Legal Practice Course, achieving a distinction in both. Gill was also awarded the Resolution prize for the highest mark nationally in the Family Law paper and the Lincoln House Chambers award for the highest mark in the Criminal Law paper.

Gill now brings her expertise to Harrison Drury of working in a high-pressure, commercial environment and to her new role advising clients, both on contentious and non-contentious matters relating to their businesses.

Gill has experience of dealing with the following, amongst others:

  • Contract review and drafting;
  • Advising upon and drafting terms of business;
  • Intellectual property matters;
  • Company, partnership and LLP disputes;
  • Contractual claims;
  • Claims in negligence, including claims against professionals (solicitors, accountants, surveyors etc);
  • Disputes arising from the acquisition of businesses.

Personal Interests:

Outside of work, Gill likes to keep herself busy with trips to the theatre, cinema and to the gym, socialising with friends, reading literature, travel (both within the UK and abroad) and looking after her energetic young nieces.

Gill has previously acted as a governor for a local primary school and is keen to inspire young people within her local community.
