Professional Background:
Emily graduated with a degree in Law from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. After enjoying the course, she decided to pursue a career in Law by completing the Legal Practice Course (with distinction) at the University of Law in Manchester.
Emily subsequently spent a year as a Paralegal at Poole Alcock solicitors in Cheshire within the Real Estate department, before joining Harrison Drury to complete her training contract.
Emily qualified into the Employment Team and advises businesses on the full range of day-to-day HR issues and provides Employment Tribunal representation. She also advises on the employment aspects of business sales and acquisitions.
In particular, Emily has experience dealing with the following:
- Unfair Dismissal;
- TUPE;
- Redundancy;
- Breach of restrictive covenants;
- Corporate assistance – both under TUPE and Asset Purchase Agreements (APA);
- Drafting of employment documents – staff handbooks, employment contracts and consultancy agreements;
- Assisting companies in day to day employment issues – including grievance procedures, disciplinaries, performance management.
As a member of the firm’s Leisure Team, Emily also has experience of dealing with businesses in the sector, which have included hotels and restaurant groups.
Emily always aims to offer clear and practical legal advice to assist clients in achieving their objectives in a cost effective way.
Personal Interests:
Emily is married with a young daughter and enjoys spending as much time as possible outdoors with her family.
Emily has always played a lot of sport, particularly hockey, and continues to enjoy keeping fit. She is also interested by foreign travel and has plans to continue exploring as much of the world as possible.
