Harrison Drury has appointed employment expert Roger Spence to launch a new service to meet increasing demand during the recession.

Roger, who joins from Preston law firm Napthens Solicitors, will head our new team and act on a wide range of employment issues for local businesses.

Roger regularly represents business clients in defending employment tribunal claims for unfair dismissal and discrimination.

He also acts on non-contentious work which includes managing redundancy programmes, advising on acquisitions, the preparation of employment contracts, policies, procedures and severance agreements for employees.

Roger said: “I am looking forward to the opportunity of joining a firm as ambitious as Harrison Drury and heading up my own department. Our long term plan is to expand the service and establish it as a driving force across the North West region.”

Roger studied law at the University of Dundee before completing his Legal Practice Course at the College of Law in Chester. He is also a member of the Employment Lawyers Association and in his spare time is a team member of Ormskirk Rugby Union Football Club.

Employment law is a growing sector both in the downturn through increased redundancy work but also in the upturn with acquisitions and disposals.

Roger is a key appointment for us. He is a vastly experienced employment law specialist and highly respected in his field and with him on board we can now offer a full service to all our existing and also potential new, clients.

Roger is the sixth senior solicitor to join Harrison Drury since the start of last year, which shows our commitment to delivering quality services for all out clients across the county.
