A benefit concert by Cumbria-based acoustic band Northern Sky has helped raise over £1,000 for Kendal Mountain Search and Rescue Team.

Harrison Drury teamed up with land and estate agents Armitstead Barnett to sponsor the concert which took place at The Box Theatre in Kendal on April 20.

Over 100 people attended the gig by the five-piece band who played for free in support of the charity. Harrison Drury director John Osborne the guitarist, lyricist and vocalist with the band.

“It was another great gig which we thoroughly enjoyed,” said John. “The audience were fantastic and the BBC Introducing team were in attendance too. It was very satisfying being able to support the amazing Box Theatre, which is part of Kendal College, as well as our excellent Mountain Rescue service.

“We’re incredibly thankful to Armitstead Barnett for jointly sponsoring this event with Harrison Drury. It’s another great example of local firms working together to support the community.”

Kendal Mountain Search and Rescue Team (MSRT) has been rescuing those in need since 1953 and is on call 24-hours-a-day, 365-days-a-year.

Every team member is a volunteer who has to train, check and maintain equipment and fundraise, all in addition to rescuing people and their other daily commitments.

Kendal MSRT is funded entirely from donations and it costs around £50,000 per year to run the team.
