Young law leaders look ahead to bright future

Share

Aspiring lawyers got a glimpse of what the future holds at the launch of a new partnership between a local law firm and Lancashire Law School.

The Young Leaders in Law network is a collaboration between Harrison Drury solicitors and Lancashire Law School to help students meet law school alumni, learn about the legal sector and gain valuable contacts.

The inaugural session, at Harrison Drury’s head office in Winckley Square, Preston, saw 15 law students take part in interactive sessions with staff to learn about key employability skills.

A further three events will take place throughout the year with a further 45 aspiring solicitors involved.

Gavin Wright, CEO at Harrison Drury said: “We have strong links with the Law School and many of our staff are alumni of the law school at UCLan.

“Our new networking events are a great opportunity for students to see what kind of career they could forge by staying in the region when they graduate. Our staff also found it very beneficial to have an opportunity to mentor the students.”

Simon Price, Senior Lecturer in innovation & employability at Lancashire Law School, added: “These networking events provide students with a great opportunity to build their confidence, employability skills and develop their professional network. Feedback from students and HD staff who attended the first event has been fantastic and we already have a waiting list for the next event in May.”

The next Young Leaders in Law networking events will be held on 22 May, 25 September and 20 November 2018.
