A community focused sports and social club in Garstang has received a helping hand from local law firm, Harrison Drury solicitors.
Each year the staff at the Garstang firm, based in Cherestanc Square, are invited to join the company’s charity fund. Members have raised £400 by donating a fixed monthly amount, which Harrison Drury then matches.
Duncan Rawlinson, head of Harrison Drury’s Garstang office, said: “Supporting and being a part of the local community is something that’s important to our team. Doing it through the charity fund means the contribution makes a real difference.
“The active participants at Garstang Sports and Social Club tend to be from a younger generation, but members of all ages are involved in the groundwork, management and of course cheering on the side-line at matches. The social club is a hub of activity in the local area and it feels great to be able to give them something back”
Andrew Bartlett, a director at Harrison Drury, added: “The club has suffered from two floods over the past few years leading to major refurbishment of the facilities. The money we have raised will be used for the upkeep and renovation of the club’s facilities.”
Garstang Sports and Social Club is centered around the three main sports in the area, cricket, rugby and football, but it is also home to other sports such as tennis and canoeing.
Harrison Drury also acts on behalf of Garstang Sports and Social Club and the local constituent clubs facilitating the club’s ability to apply to each sports’ governing body for grants.
Harrison Drury’s social fund has also raised money for; Wolfwood in Lancaster, St Catherine’s and Cash4Kids in Preston, Fairoak housing association in Kendal and Age UK in Clitheroe.
